Stanley Road Bootle (Lancashire) is an original branch of the Bank of
Liverpool, and opens for business in 1898.
At some point between Martins Bank Magazine’s 1964 visit to Bootle,
and the merger with Barclays in 1969, the status of each of the four Bootle
branches changes. Derby Road becomes a
sub-branch to 211 Stanley Road, and 99 Stanley Road, originally a sub branch
to 211 Stanley, becomes a full branch!
Are you with it, so far? (Don’t worry, there won’t be a written
test at the end). Martins Bank Magazine visits each of them in 1964, and we
have split their article over our Bootle Lancs pages in order to provide at
least some information about each
of them. It's always good to have an opening date confirmed, and this
confirmation comes in the very first sentence of this short extract from the
article… |
